Unique and One of a Kind Raku Ceramic Sculpture of Jizo Bodhisatva / Unique Sculpture /Home Decor
This listing is for one Raku Ceramic Jizo. In this jizo I have experimented more extensively with leaving parts of the sculpture unglazed. This results in blackened areas from the reduction process. He has ears. Usually I don't make my Jizo with ears, but he is particuarly charming because of the way they stick out.
Jizo is considered the protector of children and babies, expecting mothers, firemen, pilgrims and travellers. He is a popular deity in Japan and seen throughout the backwoods and beaten paths of rural areas. He is sometimes depicted as a very crude stone form, sometimes more like a baby buddha.
